Day 144

Our friends Brian and Michele live in the Bay Area as well, so before we drive back to San Diego on Sunday we had brunch with them.

Unfortunately, our real camera ran out of batteries while at the wedding, so we were forced to take Day 144's pictures on Lorne's cell phone. Wait. What's that? Pictures from Lorne's cell phone? But Lorne's 800 year old cell phone doesn't have a camera. LORNE GOT A NEW CELL PHONE! How very exciting.

After brunch, we drove up to Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, where Laurel spent weeks 6-12.5 of pregnancy with her pancreatitis and cholecystitis. It had been a year and a week or so since she was first admitted. We wanted to say hello and thank you to the people that made a really difficult, rather scary time a lot easier than it could have been. We ran into one nurse that knew us, but most of the nurses we knew well worked Monday-Friday shifts, so no dice. But we left some cupcakes at their station, and hopefully the nurse that knew us will pass the word that we stopped by and that both Laurel and Will are happy and healthy.

After the hospital, we stopped in the Teacake Bakeshop in Emeryville, picked up some cupcakes, then headed back south. The drive home was pretty uneventful, save the hourlong screaming "I won't go to sleep" fit Will threw after we ate dinner. A successful road trip, all in all, and perhaps one we'll repeat in December to watch the Huskies play* Cal.

Day 143

The reason we drove up to the Bay Area was to see our friends Tricia and Andy get married. We were pretty excited about dressing Will up a little. We did ask if it was okay to bring Will - we're a little nervous about being that couple that brings their baby to adult-only events and annoys the crap out of everyone - but Tricia told us he was more than welcome. So we bought Will this little corduroy number.

The wedding was really wonderful. The ceremony was held at the Castro Theater. Laurel cried. Will cried a little too, and Lorne took him to the back of the theater. Laurel kept herself under control though, and didn't need to be taken away to calm down. After the ceremony, we all waited in the lobby so we could walk to the reception site, Cafe du Nord, together. But there was a surprise for us! Chinese lion dancers!

Will found the lion dancers SHOCKING. He was interested in watching them though, and didn't cry.

After a performance in the theater lobby, the lion dancers led us the four blocks to Cafe du Nord.

There was eating

and dancing

a nap

and lots of nice people, though Will wasn't very nice to Tricia.

Weddings are SHOCKING!!!!!

Day 142

Today was Halloween! Will dressed up as one of his favorite book characters, The Grouchy Ladybug. Hey you, want to fight? No one at Laurel's work potluck was up to the challenge, so Will won the $10 costume contest prize. Then he tried to eat it.

He wasn't so grouchy most of the day.

Around bed time, we changed Will into his Halloween shirt from Grandma Gail, and his socks and hat from Grandma Diane (though the hat didn't fit so well). We got in the car and drove to San Francisco!

Will slept almost the whole time. He was in a fantastic mood when he woke up in the Bay Area, ate, played, then went back to sleep. Our baby rules.

Day 141

What did we do today? We don't remember. But here is the only picture we took:

Day 140

Will's new favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham. He giggles. It's pretty adorable.

Day 139

Captain Adorable's alter ego: Mr. Drool

Day 138

Well hello. I'm Captain Adorable. No, really. My shirt says so.

My parents put me in this new contraption, apparently to test out my superhero skills. I was kind of afraid of it. See how I am gripping on to the device for dear life?

Why don't they just hold me all the time? That's all I want.
