Day 300

Today we walked around London. This time we didn't carry all our luggage with us so it was significantly more fun than day 299.

Here are Laurel and Will in front of Big Ben and some orange road construction crap.

Here is Big Ben and the houses of Parliament and a bunch of random people just trying to cross the street. Unfortunately normal tourist type people can't just go visit Parliament.

Then we went to Westminster Abbey.

Will was unimpressed.

They like their statues in London. So much so that they ran out of worthy Englishmen to make statues of.

Will's favorite part of the day was losing his socks somewhere in front of the Prime Minister's house and then playing in St. James's Park.

Here's the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace. It wasn't as exciting as it sounds.

Day 299

Lorne's conference ended today. We took a bus from Oxford to London. The plan was to disembark the bus at an underground station with elevators, as most stations aren't handicapped (and thus, stroller) friendly. Laurel failed to correctly identify a station with an elevator. Hey, she said, let's walk! It won't be that far. And it wouldn't have been, if she'd led them in the right direction. Instead, after 20 minutes, she saw another tube station. "Pimlico? How in God's name did we end up at Pimlico?" she asked.

Whoops.

Two hours after we got off the bus we arrived at our hotel next to St. Paul's Cathedral. Will really liked the full-length mirror in the room.

That mirror baby was pretty handsome. Will gave him some kisses.

Kind of like A-Rod, but not disgusting and creepy.

Day 298

More playing at 3 AM. I wonder if this is why that wheel fell off the stroller a few days later.

Will looks at the church grounds.

We're very lucky that he likes his stroller.

Here's the Bodelian Library, which I mentioned in Day 297. (It's the round building behind all the heads.)

The school of music sits between the Bodelian Library and the Radcliffe Camera. There was a sign as we entered the courtyard requesting that people be quiet, as students were practicing or something. As soon as I stopped to see who this statue was, Will started yelling. Not crying, just yelling. Loudly. And it echoed. So I took a picture and we ran.

Day 297

Will did not adjust well to Greenwich Mean Time at first. He woke up the first night at midnight, after going to bed at 8, and wanted to play. Until 4 AM. So technically, this picture is from Day 297. Unloading the stroller at 3:00 AM IS SO MUCH FUN.

Aaaand that's the only picture we took of Will today. But here are some pictures of Oxford, if you're interested. We didn't go inside anything because Oxford is old and not stroller-friendly, and Laurel was by herself most of the day, and wrangling baby + baby crap + folded stroller is not as much fun as just walking around and looking at stuff.

The sign outside this building said it was the county administration building. Yeah.

This is the Radcliffe Camera, completed in 1748. It used to be a library, and is now a reading room for the Bodelian Library, which is the main research library at Oxford.

I don't remember what this is. I think I probably would have remembered if I'd blogged about it that night, but alas, the internet in our hotel room was broken. I'm 85.4% sure that it's older than 99.4% of all buildings in San Diego.

Day 296

We landed in Heathrow around 11:30 AM and after going through customs and picking up our bags, we hopped on a bus to Oxford and arrived sometime around 2. We checked in to our hotel and...I don't know. Will probably crawled on things and we probably stared at him while half asleep. Then we met up with some of Lorne's labmates at the conference registration and put our babies on the exceptionally manicured grass at Pembroke College.

Will got fussy, so they went to the dinner and Laurel took Will back to the hotel to relax and go to sleep.

Playing just like any other night, EXCEPT THERE'S A 700 YEAR OLD TOWER OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW.

Day 295

Today we traveled forever and ever and ever! Our flight out of San Diego was delayed for several hours, then we missed our connecting flight at JFK and waited there for hours and hours. Here are some pictures of Will entertaining himself at JFK.

WIRES!!!

Days 293 and 294

Yep. We failed to take a picture two days in a row.
